🛡️ Health & Safety Policy

At Bark Yard & Beyond, your pet’s safety and property protection are our top priorities. We operate in line with New Zealand’s health and Safety regulations and take all reasonable precautions to deliver safe, hygienic, and respectful service.

🧤 Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Protocols

Use of disposable gloves and pet-safe odour neutralisers, enclosed footwear, high-vis, (if required) and PPE gear on all jobs. Hands-free entry where possible. No use of dangerous tools, sprays, or poisons on site. Dogs must be secured if aggressive or unconfined.

All Bark Yard & Beyond staff wear disposable gloves and shoe covers during yard visits, and tools are sanitised between every property.

🗑️ Waste Disposal Process

All pet waste is securely double-bagged and disposed of in accordance with Local Council waste guidelines to ensure environmental responsibility.

🌱 Chemical Safety & Pet-Friendly Products

We only use non-toxic, biodegradable cleaning products — including Simple Green Outdoor Odour Eliminator & commercial dog run cleaner— that are safe for pets, children, and the environment.

Our Dog Run Cleaner is formulated by LONZA in Switzerland, manufactured using LONZA ingredients imported to NZ, EPA registered which means the LONZA formulation has been tested against animal viruses and bacteria, and is biodegradable. The product contains four very complex disinfectants designed to destroy animal viruses safely and effectively, and biodegradable low foaming LONZA detergents for efficient cleaning.
Our Dog Run Cleaner is odourless and specifically designed to kill bacteria and viruses as well as odours from faeces, urine and general dog smell without the need for perfumes or fragrances being added in, it has no fumes, it is safe and contains no nasty ingredients that are going to hurt or upset the animals giving you total peace of mind that we can use it with complete confidence.
Our Dog Run Cleaner is low foaming, exceptionally efficient at cleaning and leaves no slippery residues.

🤒 Illness Prevention Policy

We will reschedule services if any team member is unwell, and we ask customers to notify us if anyone, or your animal in the household has a contagious illness.

🌦️ Weather & Hazard Policy

Services may be postponed during severe weather, flooding, or unsafe travel conditions to ensure the safety of staff, pets, and property.

🚪 Customer Responsibilities

We ask that pets be secured during service and that yards are accessible at the scheduled time. Gates should be accessible/unlockable, and any hazards such as sharp objects, chemicals, or loose dogs should be contained or secured beforehand unless prior arrangements have been made.

🚨 Emergency Response Procedures

In the unlikely event of injury to a pet or property damage, Bark Yard & Beyond has a clear reporting and response process, including immediate owner notification and follow-up.
